How do I get my RBS certification in California

#2 – Completion of training provided by an authorised RBS training provider

#3 – Passing the ABC Certification Exam within 30 days of completing

If I passed an exam or received an RBS certificate from a training provider, do I still need to take the ABC Alcohol Server Certification Exam?

YES!  It is imperative to pass the ABC Alcohol Server Certification Exam within 30 days following the confirmation of your training. Merely possessing a certificate from the training provider does not fulfill the requirement for obtaining the California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.

What is the difference between ABC and RBS certification?

Upon finishing the training, servers must successfully complete an RBS exam administered by the ABC to obtain their certification. To clarify, Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) server training denotes the mandatory completion mandated by the government body, while Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training specifically denotes the alcohol server training program’s name.

How long does my Responsible Beverage Server Training Certificate last?

Certifications are valid for three years. Your certification must be renewed prior to its expiration to remain valid.
